We walk down to the beach to feed the ducks. They hang around in the warm water stream that feeds into the sea from this pipe. The water comes from the district heating system.

Adults and children ski past as we stand there. Some stop to talk. The ski tracks have now been clearly established and pedestrians carefully step over them to avoid causing any damage.

I notice several skiers speeding along in the middle of the sea where the ice has obviously got thick enough to support them. I watch as one of them heads into the shore.

The ducks take no notice of anything except the bread that lands in the water around them. They have little fear and climb out of the water onto the surrounding ice to collect any bread that falls short.
