Work room, 15:00
Today I joined a deadly cult.
I watched a short piece on the evening news yesterday about something called Postcrossing.com. This organisation, based in Portugal, facilitates the sending and receiving of postcards between complete strangers.
The somewhat overcomplicated system provides me with the name and address of a stranger who wants to receive a postcard from me, as well as a code number that tells them that I sent it. When they receive it they will type the code number into the site and I will gain credits for having sent it in the first place.
I chose this postcard as my first offering to the gods of international mail couriers. It comes from the Museum of Cultures. It shows “a rat of bronze with a chestnut between its paws. Japan”. It has left Finland on its way to somewhere in Germany.
