Vartiokylä has a very active social group that organise the strangest things. We have discovered that Santa Claus will ride all around the area this afternoon in a horse-drawn sledge.

We race back from whatever we spent the afternoon doing in order to see him. I have my camera primed and ready to go. We discover that the rented horse has proved to only have two speeds: stop and very fast. As a result the timetable has fallen apart as the horse sped relentlessly towards the finishing line.

When we arrive in Riskutie Santa Claus will arrive in fifteen minutes. When we check online we will discover that he actually raced past thirty or forty minutes ago.

Disappointed we go home and I look through the photographs I took yesterday. I will find the old car that sits outside one of the shops in the Old Town all dressed up for Christmas.

At least something stood still while I photographed it.
