Lappeentie, 8:24

Last night I finally finished Mother London, Michael Moorcock’s “serious” novel about twentieth century London. I thought by the end that it counted as a genuine masterpiece. I immediately ordered The Swarm from Helsinki city library (where this one came from). Let’s see how that one works out.

This morning I set off for a walk in the dark with a podcast in my ears. It had a trailer at the end for another series – a docudrama. I downloaded the first episode and listened to it as I walked down Lappeentie. The road sat in darkness with the morning sun blazing through the cracks in the clouds.

By the time I get home I will still feel undecided. Docudrama means unnecessary music and sound effects and a slowing of pace to fit in the music and effects. I think I would rather hear two or three people discussing the conclusions that the investigation comes to or doesn’t.

I will persevere for at least a day or so before drawing any real conclusions. At 9:15 I will look out of the work room window and notice that dawn has arrived.
