McPlants: growing soon

McDonalds have started work on a new McPlant “platform”: a range of plant-based things that they intend rolling out globally according to a coyly unspecified schedule.

McDonald’s said its new McPlant line of products could eventually include plant-based chicken and meat for breakfast sandwiches. Some markets will test the burger next year…

McDonald’s didn’t specify the markets where it plans to sell McPlant products. When asked about timing, Chief Executive Officer Chris Kempczinski said on the call that “the exact pace of that is going to be dictated, as it always is, by the customer demand.”

I got this news from Bloomberg.com, who reported that Beyond Meat Inc had claimed that they had worked on this with McDonalds.
