Stockmann, 18:18

I have spent the day, thinking, reading, and writing, to less effect than I intended. It happens. Sometimes, though, it appears to happen rather too often. (That last sentence may have too many qualifiers in it. That also happens sometimes.)

Now, working day done to death, I find myself in Stockmann, sitting waiting, and watching the patterns on the floor. I spend fifteen minutes looking at this and have more productive chains of thought doing this than I have had for the rest of the day.

I have my iPad in my bag, and after ten minutes of watching the floor I look up and start taking notes.

Displacement activity works both ways.
