I first noticed this grasshopper on the table in the sauna house early in the morning. I went to fetch my iPad or phone to photograph it, and got distracted. By the time I got back it had disappeared.

Now, in the middle of the afternoon, I realise that it had hardly moved at all. I come across it sitting on a light switch. It clearly can’t work up any enthusiasm for escaping. It sits their with its antenna twitching as I get nearer and nearer to it.

Eventually we will move it outside where it will sit still, but perfectly alive, refusing to do any hopping in the newly mown grass.
