Sundö, 13:45

Even more than other wooden boats, traditional Pellinge rowing boats need soaking in water before use. The wood needs to expand properly before you can guarantee the boat will float without leaking.
Mika and I put this boat in the water yesterday evening and left it overnight. This morning I went down to the beach at 8:30 to bail it out and discovered it completely submerged.
I dragged it far enough to raise the sides above the water-level and started bailing. Ninety minutes later the boat floated, with all the water removed.
I have just finished recording a podcast with Sophie and Loraine Leeson. I walk down to check the boat and find this.
I prepare to do another round of bailing.
