I walk over the partly finished terrace and look down at the new wood. I had planned on painting it black but now I have begun to have doubts. That seems an awful lot of black.

I look at the knots and marks in the wood and wonder about using a transparent coating that would protect rather than hide them.

Maybe I should wait to see what the finished flooring looks like. Whatever eventually gets decided, I will have to do it soon before it rains and the wood gets wet.

Fortunately the heatwave continues, and seems likely to continue until the start of next week.
