Meanwhile back in Helsinki…

As we came to the end of Esplanaadi I decided to take a photograph of Kauppatori, which looked busy again. The lights turned green, we drove on, and no photograph got taken.

Ah, I said, I will get it from a different angle at the next lights. The next lights turned green as we approached.

Okay, the outdoor lido then. Oh well, I will catch the crowds outside the Orthodox Church…or the restaurant…or hanging out by the big boats…the sports courts…this.

For the first time in living memory every set of traffic lights from Esplanaafi until just before Suvilahti turned green to let us through, so that the car hardly slowed down until we reached the lights just before the ABC gas station.

You want a photo of people enjoying themselves in the summer sun, oblivious to the pandemic, and, eight or nine traffic lights later, you get this.
