Finland celebrates Independence Day today, so everyone has a holiday. We have acting as though Saturday has arrived early. Tomorrow we will act as though Saturday has arrived right on time.

The rain has begun to ease off and we plan to go shopping for the weekend food. I walk to the end of the road and peep into the woods. I look down and notice a tyre track in the mud.

At 6pm Irma will light the traditional blue and white candles in the window.
