Somewhere over Iran, 15:30
We got up, got a taxi, and got to the airport by about 6:15. We were in the Finnair lounge. Discovering what they have for breakfast about fifteen minutes later.
The plane was an Airbus 321, which wasn’t as fancy as we had hoped. In practical terms it had neither in-flight entertainment nor electrical sockets, so we entertained ourselves and depleted our batteries doing so.
Now we are passing over desert. It would be a cliche to say that it looks like the surface of another planet, so I won’t. It does though.
It will take about an hour and a half to get through immigration at Dubai airport because (we will be told) Friday is the wrong day to enter. Fortunately it will take about ten minutes to get from the airport to the hotel.
Later we will walk over the road to the City Centre mall, which will be huge. We will walk for hours in search of the food court which will be full to the brim of people having a Friday night out. We will manage to get seats and Indian food in that order.
